What is a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)?


A Sudden Cardiac Arrest or SCA is a condition which causes the heart to stop beating unexpectedly.

Unfortunately, no one is immune from SCA and it can often affect victims with no prior symptoms and no previous history of heart conditions; in the majority of cases, the patient will collapse, lose consciousness and have no pulse.

Death can occur in minutes if the proper treatment isn't administered to the patient quickly enough; however, quick delivery of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and a shock from an AED can provide victims with the very best possible chance of survival.
