In order for an AED to be carried on an aircraft during a flight, it has to meet the Federal Aviation Administration's TSO C-142 certification.

The selected AEDs below have all been certified with FAA compliant components, allowing them to be carried on aircraft during flights.

Travelling Heartsafe

Having an accessible AED onboard not only protects the cabin crew, pilot and captain but keeps all the travellers safe and protected against sudden cardiac arrest too.

Sadly, no one is immune to sudden cardiac arrest and unlike other cardiac events, SCA's usually strike with no prior warning. If treatment is delivered to the patient within 3 - 5 minutes of them collapsing, their survival chance increases significantly from 6% to 74%.

With planes travelling by air and sometimes over water, it may be unable to make an emergency landing in the event of one of the passengers falling victim to sudden cardiac arrest. However, if the aircraft is equipped with an AED, the treatment can be delivered. This is just one of the many reasons why aircraft should be equipped with an AED.
