Deciding factors
When you’re looking at AEDs there are a few important factors for you to consider before you go ahead and make the decision to purchase a life-saving unit.
The first is that all AED units have an IP rating. This indicates how well protected the units are against harsh environmental factors such as dust and water, and they are graded from 0-5, with 5 being the most protected.
Secondly, when choosing a device, you may need to switch the unit from adult to pediatric mode. If you’re buying an AED for a school or kindergarten, you may want to have a unit handy that is able to switch to pediatric settings quickly, saving time in an emergency.
