AED maintenance is essential ensuring your life-saving device is ready to be used in an emergency at all times. Recent technological advancements make this aspect extremely easy for anyone that manages AEDs.
Connected technology AEDs will connect to program management software once the device has been turned on. This allows the user to continually monitor the device remotely whilst also keeping an eye on the accessories, such as the electrode pads and battery, and monitor the self-test results which check over each and every part of the device and ensure it is ready for action at a moment's notice.
We expect to see more new AED innovations that boast similar features, making owning an AED simpler than ever.
When you own a connected AED, the program management systems will alert you right away if there are any problems or failures. You will also be notified in advance when you need to purchase new accessories to ensure your device could be used at any time.
The HeartSine Gateway allows program managers to monitor a fleet of AEDs across different locations. Once Gateway has connected to LIFELINKcentral, this AED Program Management system will be able to track the readiness of your AED, including Pad-Pak expirations and self-test results to give you the peace of mind that your AED will always be ready to be used in a rescue.
AEDs save lives but to do so, they must remain in a constant working condition with accessories that are in date. If your AED is not ready to rescue, it cannot be used during a cardiac emergency. For every minute that passes without treatment, the survival chance of a victim of sudden cardiac arrest decreases by 10%. However, if treatment is delivered within 3 - 5 minutes of collapse, the survival chance significantly increases from 6% to 74%.
